The Nuki Smart Lock Pro 4th Gen is the Nuki to buy if you want full remote access but must keep your existing door cylinder. It suits Dubai apartment tenants and villa owners with a standard euro-cylinder door who want the lock working the same day without swapping hardware. It mounts on the inside of the door over the cylinder, with your key left in the inside of the lock. The motor turns that key when you tap the app, use Auto Unlock, or enter a code on a Nuki Keypad 2. Wi-Fi is built in, so you can open the door for a cleaner while you are at work and share timed keys without a Nuki Bridge. Remote access over Thread is also included, and Matter lets Apple Home, Google Home, Alexa and SmartThings control it through a Thread hub. Power comes from the rechargeable Nuki Power Pack, which Nuki says lasts up to six months per charge. The catch is your cylinder. It must have an emergency function, meaning a key from outside still works while the inside key is in place. Many cheap cylinders do not, and then you need a new cylinder anyway. The body is also larger than the Ultra (110 x 60 x 60 mm), and Nuki has since moved this model to its older range. Buy the Ultra if you can change the cylinder, or the standard 4th Gen if you do not need Wi-Fi.

The Pro 4th Gen fits Dubai doors that use a European mortise lock body with a double euro-profile cylinder, which covers most villa and apartment entrance doors. It does not suit US bored deadbolts, rim locks, UK oval cylinders or glass doors. The key test is the cylinder: with a key inside, a second key must still work from outside. Many builder-grade cylinders in older Dubai buildings fail this, so we test it on the visit and fit a Nuki Universal Cylinder if needed. Because the cylinder stays, this is the Nuki we suggest to tenants, though your tenancy may still require landlord consent for any lock change. Tower doors are usually fire-rated, and this unit adds nothing to the door leaf, but check building rules. Mount it on the air-conditioned side only. On 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi it works with most Dubai home routers, but not on 5 GHz-only or WPA3-only networks.
