Overview

What it is and where it fits

The Solity GM-1000 is an entry-level smart lock from Solity, a Korean lock maker. It replaces your key with five ways in: your fingerprint, a PIN on the keypad, an RFID card, your phone over Bluetooth, or one of the two backup keys in the box. It stores up to 100 fingerprints and 100 cards, so a whole household plus regular visitors can each have their own access. The lock runs on its own. There is no Wi-Fi and no hub to set up. You pair your phone through the free Solity Smart Home app, and from there you add or remove users, set PIN codes, and check who opened the door. The app only reaches the lock over Bluetooth, so you manage it while you are near the door, not from work or from abroad. It fits doors between 35 and 70 mm thick, which covers most solid apartment and villa front doors in Dubai. The door locks itself after every entry, so it is rarely left open by accident. Who it suits: renters and owners who want keyless entry on the main door without a smart-home setup or a monthly account. Honest limits: no remote unlocking, no Apple Home, Google Home or Alexa, and no camera. If you need to buzz in a guest while you are out, this is not the right lock for you.

  • Five ways in: fingerprint, PIN, card, phone or backup key
  • Works fully offline, with no Wi-Fi or hub to set up
  • Auto-locks itself every time the door closes behind you
  • Emergency power port and two backup keys if the battery dies

What to check before you order

Most Dubai front doors, both villa and apartment, are solid and sit inside the 35 to 70 mm range this lock fits, so the mortise body usually suits them. Fingerprint readers can struggle in peak summer when hands are sweaty or wet from the pool, so it helps to keep the PIN and card as backups. The lock is battery powered and does not touch DEWA mains, so a power cut will not lock you out, and the emergency port lets a fitter feed power from outside if the batteries ever run flat. There is no Wi-Fi, so a weak signal at a far villa gate or inside a thick-walled apartment is not a problem here. If you rent, and around seven in ten Dubai residents do, ask your landlord or building management first, since fitting a mortise lock usually means cutting the door to suit it. We supply the GM-1000 to order and handle setup and local support.

Solity in the UAE. A Korean digital-lock maker with a long track record in Asia. UAE availability is still thin: a few specialist lock retailers carry the G-series and mainstream marketplaces stock it only now and then, so we source and support these directly rather than pointing you at a shelf.

Questions about the Solity GM-1000 Smart Door Lock

What exactly is the Solity GM-1000?
Chevron down icon
It is an entry-level smart door lock from Solity, a Korean lock brand. It fits into the door as a mortise lock and lets you open the door by fingerprint, PIN code, RFID card, your phone over Bluetooth, or a normal metal key. It works on its own without Wi-Fi or any smart-home hub.

Will it fit my Dubai villa or apartment door?
Chevron down icon
It suits doors between 35 and 70 mm thick, which covers most solid front doors in Dubai villas and apartments. It fits as a mortise lock, so the lock body sits inside the edge of the door. Send us a photo of your current lock and the door and we will confirm before you buy.

I rent my home. Can I use this lock, and will my landlord allow it?
Chevron down icon
Tenants can use it, but you should ask the landlord or building management first. Fitting a mortise lock usually means cutting the door to suit the lock body, which changes the door. Get written permission, keep the original lock, and refit it when you move out to avoid any deposit dispute.

Who installs it?
Chevron down icon
We arrange installation for you in Dubai. A mortise lock needs the door edge cut to the right size, so it is a job for a fitter, not a quick DIY swap. Our fitter checks the door, cuts and aligns it properly, sets up the first users, and shows you how the app and keypad work.

Does it need Wi-Fi or a hub?
Chevron down icon
No. The GM-1000 has no Wi-Fi and needs no hub or bridge. Everything runs on the lock itself. You only use Bluetooth and the Solity Smart Home app to manage users and settings when you are standing near the door. This also means no monthly fee and nothing to slow down your home network.

Does it work with Apple Home, Google Home or Alexa?
Chevron down icon
No. The GM-1000 does not connect to Apple Home, Google Home, SmartThings or Alexa. It is a standalone Bluetooth lock managed only through the Solity Smart Home app. If you want to control the lock with voice or from a smart-home app, you need a different model, and we can suggest one.

Will the fingerprint reader work in Dubai's summer heat?
Chevron down icon
The sensor itself handles UAE heat fine. The usual issue is sweaty, wet or dusty fingers after being outside or by the pool, which can make a scan fail. Register the same finger twice and a second finger as backup. If a print will not read, the PIN, card or key still open the door.

How long does the battery last, and what happens in a power cut?
Chevron down icon
The lock runs on its own batteries, not on DEWA mains, so a building power cut does not lock you out. It warns you with a low-battery alarm before they run down. Solity does not publish an exact battery life for this model, so treat the low-battery warning as your cue to change them.

What if the battery dies completely while I am outside?
Chevron down icon
You have two ways in. The lock comes with two mechanical keys, so you can always open it the old way. It also has an emergency power port on the outside panel, so a fitter or you can feed temporary power to the lock long enough to open it and then replace the batteries.

How do I give a cleaner, maid or guest access?
Chevron down icon
Give them their own fingerprint or RFID card in the app, or share one of the PIN codes. The lock holds up to 100 fingerprints and 100 cards, so family, staff and regular visitors can each have their own. Note that it stores only four PIN codes, so use cards or fingerprints when many people need access.

Can the lock be hacked or forced open?
Chevron down icon
It has several guards built in. A break-in or tamper alarm sounds if someone tries to force the door. There is also anti-shock protection against electrical attacks on the lock. And because it has no Wi-Fi, there is no internet connection for a remote hacker to reach in the first place.

Can I add more than one user, and how does the app work?
Chevron down icon
Yes. The free Solity Smart Home app lets you add and remove users, set PIN codes, name each fingerprint or card, and read the door log. You pair your phone once over Bluetooth. The app manages the lock when you are near it, so there is no account needed to open the door day to day.

Can I use it completely offline?
Chevron down icon
Yes. Day to day the lock needs no phone and no internet. Family members open it with a fingerprint, card, PIN or key without any app at all. You only open the app when you want to add a user, change a code, or check the history, and even that happens locally over Bluetooth.

What comes in the box?
Chevron down icon
It ships with the lock unit and two mechanical backup keys. Solity does not publish a full box list for this model, so we confirm the exact contents, screws and fittings with you at the time of order, and our fitter brings anything else the installation needs.

What warranty and support do I get in the UAE?
Chevron down icon
We supply the GM-1000 to order and handle setup and after-sales help locally, so you are not chasing an overseas seller. Warranty terms are confirmed at the time of quote, since this is a specialist import rather than a shelf product. Ask us and we will put the current terms in writing.

How much is it and how do I buy it from you?
Chevron down icon
We source this lock to order, so the price and lead time change with stock and shipping. It is not sold on Amazon.ae or Noon, so there is no marketplace price to match. Message us with your door details and we will send today's price, availability and a fitting quote.

How does it compare to a Wi-Fi lock like the EZVIZ DL04 Pro?
Chevron down icon
The GM-1000 is simpler and works offline, with no Wi-Fi to set up or keep online. A Wi-Fi lock like the EZVIZ DL04 Pro lets you unlock from anywhere and get phone alerts, but it depends on your network and often an app account. Pick the GM-1000 if you want keyless entry without the internet side.

Who should not buy this lock?
Chevron down icon
Skip it if you need to open the door remotely for guests while you are out, want voice control or Apple Home, or want a built-in camera. It has none of those. It is also not ideal if you cannot get landlord permission to modify a rented door. In those cases we can point you to a better fit.

Does the door lock itself after I go in?
Chevron down icon
Yes. The GM-1000 auto-locks after each entry, so the door secures itself once it closes behind you. Nobody has to remember to lock up on the way out or when the kids run inside. It is one less thing to think about, and it means the door is rarely left unlocked by mistake.

How many fingerprints, cards and PIN codes can it store?
Chevron down icon
It holds up to 100 fingerprints and up to 100 RFID cards, which is more than enough for a family plus regular visitors. PIN codes are more limited, with up to four codes stored at a time. Each code can be four to twelve digits long, so you can set one that is easy to remember but hard to guess.

Can I unlock the door from my office or when I am abroad?
Chevron down icon
No. The GM-1000 only talks to your phone over Bluetooth, so you must be near the door to use the app. There is no remote unlocking and no way to let someone in while you are away. If that matters to you, you need a Wi-Fi lock instead, which we also supply.

Does it have a camera or doorbell?
Chevron down icon
No. The GM-1000 is a lock only, with no camera, no doorbell and no video. If you want to see who is at the door, pair it with a separate video doorbell or door camera. We can quote a lock and camera together so they suit the same door and entrance.

What happens if someone keeps entering the wrong PIN?
Chevron down icon
The lock has a fake-password lockout. After several wrong tries it stops accepting entries for a short time and can sound its alarm, which puts off anyone guessing codes at your door. Your own PIN, fingerprint or card still works normally once the lockout clears.

Contact us
Can I see who opened the door and when?
Chevron down icon
Yes. The Solity Smart Home app keeps an unlock history, so you can check who opened the door and at what time when you connect over Bluetooth. This is useful for knowing when children got home or when a cleaner came and left. The log stays on the lock, not on a cloud server.

Will the high-temperature feature open my door in the summer heat?
Chevron down icon
No, that would need fire-level heat, not a hot Dubai afternoon. The lock has a safety sensor that releases the door if it detects the very high temperatures of a fire, so people can escape. Normal summer weather, even a sun-facing door, is nowhere near that threshold, so it will not unlock on its own.
