The SureFeed Microchip Pet Feeder Connect is a covered bowl that opens only for the pet it is set up for, and it suits Dubai homes with two or more cats, or a cat and a small dog, on different diets. When a registered pet puts its head in, the lid lifts. When it walks away, the lid closes, so the greedy cat cannot finish the other cat's prescription food. Be clear on what it is not. It is not an automatic feeder. It does not store food or serve meals on a timer, you fill the bowl yourself. If you need meals served while you are at work, look at a timed feeder such as the Petkit Fresh Element Solo. The Connect version has a scale accurate to within 1 g. With the Sure Petcare Hub, the free app shows when each pet ate and how much, and lets you set portion weights and the lid close delay. Without the Hub the feeder still works on its own as a selective feeder, but you lose the app. The Hub costs about AED 337 more, plugs into your router by Ethernet cable and also runs a SureFlap Connect door. The feeder takes wet or dry food in one 400 ml bowl or two half bowls. It reads implanted microchips or the included RFID collar tag, and four C-cell batteries last about six months. Keep it indoors in air conditioning. Skip it if you have one pet, or if you need scheduled feeding.

This is an indoor product. Sure Petcare says keep it away from excessive heat, and never put it in the fridge or on ice packs, so place it in an air-conditioned kitchen, laundry or utility room, not a balcony or garden. The sealed lid helps with flies and ants, which find pet food fast in Dubai homes, but it does not cool the food. Wet food still goes off within hours at room temperature, so do not fill it for a whole day in summer. The feeder runs on C-cell batteries, so DEWA cuts do not stop the lid working. The Hub needs mains power and an Ethernet cable to your router, and should sit at least a metre off the floor with few thick walls between it and the feeder. In a large villa that can mean putting the router side near the kitchen. If the internet drops, the feeder carries on and keeps its settings. Renters can use it freely, since nothing is drilled or wired.
