The D1 is the older generation Aqara switch and it remains a sound choice where the budget is tight and the box has a neutral. It does the same fundamental job as the current models: replaces the plate on a standard wall box, gives each gang its own identity in Apple Home, Alexa or Google through an Aqara hub, and leaves a physical rocker wired to the light for everyone in the house who has no interest in any of this. One, two and three gang versions cover the plate layouts found in most Dubai homes. Where it sits behind the newer H2 and Z1 Pro is in response time and in how long it will keep receiving firmware attention, which matters more on a twenty switch villa install than on a single bedroom plate. A three gang D1 in a corridor that gets used three times a day is a perfectly reasonable place to save money. The whole ground floor of a new villa is not. It needs a neutral, so an older apartment box with two wires rules it out, and the gang count has to match the plate being removed.

Fits the standard UK wall box used across Dubai villas and apartments and needs a neutral at that box, so older apartment stock without one is out. We use the D1 where the price difference against the current generation buys something more useful elsewhere in the job, for example on secondary bedrooms, corridors and store rooms while the reception areas get the newer switches. All of it runs on the same hub, so mixing generations through one property is normal rather than a compromise. Match gang count to the existing plate: three rocker plates are common in UAE hallways and need the three gang version.
