Buy the Aqara Wall Outlet H2 UK only if you are buying the UK version, because that is the British 13A three-pin socket UAE walls are built for and the EU Schuko H2 is not. UAE sockets are BS 1363 Type-G and UAE back boxes are British pattern, so the Schuko version will neither fit the box nor accept a UAE plug. This one replaces a standard double socket with two outlets you can switch separately, two USB-C ports and power monitoring. Out of the box it runs Thread, so it joins Apple Home, Google Home, Alexa, SmartThings or Home Assistant through Matter with no Aqara hub at all. Switch it to Zigbee and you do need an Aqara hub, but you get per-outlet power monitoring and the fuller Aqara Home feature set. The catch list is short and real. The faceplate is 146 x 86 mm, so it needs a double-gang back box, not a single one. The box has to be at least 35 mm deep, or 25 mm with the 10 mm spacer supplied in the carton. Aqara rates it to a 40 C ceiling, so it belongs in air-conditioned rooms. And it is mains work, with the circuit isolated, which in the UAE means an electrician rather than a weekend job. Renters who cannot touch fixed wiring should buy a smart plug instead.

UAE mains is 230V at 50Hz with British BS 1363 Type-G sockets, so the UK variant is the correct one and the EU Schuko H2 is not. Buy by model: WP-P09D is the UK dual USB-C version. The faceplate is 146 x 86 mm, which is a double-gang plate, so it goes into a double back box and not a single 86 x 86 mm one. Dubai back box depth varies a lot between buildings and between an older villa and a new tower, so the depth has to be measured on site before ordering. Aqara asks for 35 mm or more, and supplies a 10 mm spacer for 25 mm boxes. Changing a socket is work on fixed wiring, so the circuit must be isolated at the DB board first and it should be done by an electrician, not by the occupant. Tenants normally need the landlord's permission to change fixed accessories, and many Dubai buildings also want the work cleared with building management. Heat is the other constraint. Aqara rates the outlet to 40 C and for indoor use only, so it must not go in a service duct, an external wall cavity, a garage or a roof space, all of which routinely pass 40 C in a Dubai summer. In a DEWA power cut the outlet has no power and the sockets are dead, and on restoration it returns to the state set by its power-off memory. Thread and Zigbee both live on 2.4GHz, which is crowded in apartment towers, though a mains-powered device like this is a repeater rather than a weak leaf node. There is no wiring standard problem with neutral here: socket circuits always have a neutral, so the no-neutral issue that affects older Dubai light switches does not apply.
