Overview

What it is and where it fits

The Palladiom keypad is Lutron's flagship wall control for high-end lighting. Each button recalls a full scene, so one press can set the dining lights, close the shades and dim the cove, rather than switching a single circuit. It sits alongside the glass-faced Alisse and the International seeTouch in the same premium keypad family, and it is what many Dubai villa owners picture when they say they do not want a row of plastic paddles on the wall. It is not a standalone product. The keypad carries no mains wiring and has no app of its own. It runs on 24 to 36V DC delivered over Lutron's wired QS link from a processor, so a HomeWorks QSX, Quantum, GRAFIK Eye QS, Athena or myRoom XC system has to be in place first. It does not pair with RadioRA 3, which uses a separate family of battery-powered RF controls. Every unit is factory-built to order. Button count (2, 3, 4, or 3 plus raise and lower), finish (matte polymer, architectural or signature metal, or glass) and the engraved text on each button are all fixed at the time of order. Changing the scene names later means ordering a new button kit. This fits villa, penthouse and majlis projects where the lighting is designed properly at first fix or during a full rewire. A certified Lutron dealer specifies it, programs the scenes in Lutron Designer software and commissions the system. It is designed, installed and handed over, not bought off a shelf.

  • One press sets the whole room, lights and motorised shades together
  • Engraved buttons in metal, glass or matte polymer, made to your own scene names
  • Low-voltage only, so the keypad itself never carries building mains
  • Fits both US-gang and 75 mm square or 68 mm round backboxes found in UAE villas

What to check before you order

Voltage is not an issue here: the keypad never touches building mains. Lutron's own spec sheet for the wired Palladiom keypad (doc 369881) rates it at 24 to 36V DC, 30 mA, about 0.7W, fed as SELV/PELV Class 2 low voltage over the QS link cable from the processor. The HomeWorks QSX or Quantum processor takes a universal 100 to 277V AC, 50/60Hz supply, so the full system is correct on UAE 220-240V at 50Hz with no converter and no rewiring. It is not a US 120V-only part, and it is not something you plug into a Type-G socket either. Both wall box conventions are covered: a US-gang wallbox, or the International Square-style module that suits the 75 x 75 mm square and 68 mm round backboxes used for EU and UK style plates here, 25 to 35 mm deep. Confirm the backbox with your dealer before first fix. Supply runs through Lutron's distributor Taxan Gulf and authorised Dubai dealers, mains work at the panel stays with a licensed electrician, and warranty support is through the dealer network at lutron.com/warranty.

Questions about the Lutron Palladiom Keypad

What is the Lutron Palladiom keypad?
Chevron down icon
It is Lutron's flagship wired scene keypad, a flush wall panel in metal, glass or matte polymer with engraved buttons. Each button recalls a saved lighting and shade scene across the room rather than switching one circuit. It belongs to the HomeWorks family, sold next to the Alisse and International seeTouch keypads.

Will it work on UAE 220-240V mains?
Chevron down icon
Yes, and it never touches mains itself. The keypad runs on 24 to 36V DC low voltage carried over the QS link cable from the processor. The HomeWorks QSX or Quantum processor accepts 100 to 277V AC at 50 or 60Hz, so the whole system is correct on UAE power with no converter.

Does it fit the wall boxes used in Dubai villas?
Chevron down icon
Usually yes. Palladiom comes as a US-gang faceplate in 1 to 4 gang, or as an International Square-style module that suits a 75 x 75 mm square or 68 mm round backbox with 25 to 35 mm minimum depth. Villas here use both conventions, so confirm the box before first fix.

Can my electrician install it, or do I need a certified Lutron dealer?
Chevron down icon
Both, in different roles. A licensed electrician pulls the cable and does the mains work at the panel. A certified Lutron dealer specifies the keypad, terminates it on the QS link and programs the scenes in Lutron Designer software. The keypad does nothing until it is commissioned.

What else do I have to buy for the keypad to work?
Chevron down icon
A QS-based processor at minimum. That means HomeWorks QSX, Quantum, GRAFIK Eye QS, Athena or myRoom XC, plus the dimming modules or panels that actually control your circuits, plus the QS link wiring. The keypad is an input device, so on its own it does nothing at all.

Which app controls it?
Chevron down icon
The keypad has no app of its own. App control comes from the system it is wired into, which for a villa is normally the Lutron app for HomeWorks QSX. The keypad and the app trigger the same scenes, so a guest can press a button without touching a phone.

Does it work with Alexa, Google Home or Apple Home?
Chevron down icon
The keypad has no voice integration. The processor does. HomeWorks QSX integrates with Alexa, Google Assistant and Apple Home, so you can say a scene name and the same lights respond. The keypad is simply the wall-mounted way to trigger those scenes without voice or a phone.

Can I use a Palladiom keypad with RadioRA 3?
Chevron down icon
No. Palladiom, Alisse and the wired International seeTouch all run on the wired QS link and need a QS-based processor. RadioRA 3 uses a different family of battery-powered RF controls, mainly Pico, Sunnata and RF seeTouch. If your project is RadioRA 3, we quote those keypads instead.

Can I retrofit it into a villa that is already finished?
Chevron down icon
Only with cable work. The QS link is a wired bus, so shielded twisted-pair and power cable must reach every keypad and run back to the processor. In a finished villa that means chasing walls or using ceiling voids. It is far easier on a new build, a full rewire or a gut renovation.

How does it compare to the Aqara scene switches you sell?
Chevron down icon
Aqara costs a fraction and runs on Zigbee with a hub, so it is quick to fit and easy to move. Palladiom is a wired part of a designed lighting system, with engraved buttons, deeper dimming control and no batteries. Choose Aqara for flexibility on a budget, Palladiom for a specified fit-out.

Is it worth upgrading from Sonoff or Tuya wall switches?
Chevron down icon
Only if you are also changing the lighting behind them. Sonoff and Tuya switch circuits over Wi-Fi and cost very little. Palladiom controls proper dimming hardware and scenes across a whole floor. Swapping the wall plate alone gains nothing, because the system behind it does the real work.

We already have Philips Hue. Is Palladiom an upgrade?
Chevron down icon
They solve different problems. Hue is plug-and-play bulbs with a bridge, good for renters and quick changes. Palladiom controls hard-wired circuits through Lutron dimmers, which handles chandeliers, cove lighting and shades that Hue bulbs cannot. Moving from Hue to HomeWorks is a rewiring decision, not a swap.

What is the lead time in Dubai?
Chevron down icon
Every keypad is factory-built with your engraving, so nothing ships from local stock. Expect several weeks from approved order to delivery, plus programming time on site. We confirm the current lead time with the distributor when we quote, and we chase engraving sign-off early so it does not delay handover.

How do you quote it?
Chevron down icon
Per project. We read your drawings, count circuits and scenes, work out how many keypads and how many buttons per location, size the processor and dimming panels, then price keypads, cabling, programming and commissioning together. Send us your lighting layout and we come back with a price and lead time.

What should the buttons say?
Chevron down icon
Short scene names people actually use, not circuit names. Things like Entertain, Dine, Evening, Watch, All Off. We agree the wording room by room before the order goes in, because the text is engraved at the factory and is not a printed label you can peel off.

Contact us
Can I change the engraving after installation?
Chevron down icon
Not on the existing buttons. Engraving happens at manufacture, so new wording needs a new button kit ordered through the dealer. The scene behind a button can be reprogrammed at any time, which is why we keep wording general enough to survive a change of furniture or habits.

What finishes are available?
Chevron down icon
Palladiom is offered in matte polymer, architectural metal and signature metal finishes, with the faceplate sitting flush to the wall. Alisse is the glass-fronted alternative in the same family. Finish is chosen at order time alongside the interior designer, together with button count and engraving text.

How many buttons should each keypad have?
Chevron down icon
Each column is built as 2-button, 3-button, 4-button, or 3-button with raise and lower. A bedroom often needs three. An entry or majlis usually needs four plus an All Off. More buttons is not better, because a panel nobody can read gets ignored and everyone goes back to the app.

Can it control curtains and blinds as well as lights?
Chevron down icon
Yes, if the shades sit on the same Lutron system. One scene button can dim lights and drive motorised shades at once, which is useful in Dubai living rooms where glare and heat gain matter every afternoon. The shades must be Lutron or integrated into the processor by your dealer.

Is it suitable for a bathroom, a terrace or an unconditioned room?
Chevron down icon
No to outdoors. The keypad is IP20, indoor only, rated 0 to 40 C and up to 90% relative humidity without condensation. Keep it away from wet areas, direct sun on a glazed wall and unconditioned spaces. Inside an air-conditioned villa it sits comfortably within those limits.

What happens during a DEWA power cut?
Chevron down icon
Scenes and programming are stored in the system, not lost. When mains returns the processor powers up and the keypads come back with it. Villas on a generator or UPS can keep the processor alive through a short outage. Your dealer sets how the lights behave when power is restored.

Contact us
Does it need Wi-Fi or an internet connection?
Chevron down icon
The keypad does not. It is wired to the processor and keeps working with the internet down. The processor uses your network for the app, voice assistants and remote access, so those features need a connection. Pressing a button on the wall is independent of the router.

What warranty and support do I get in the UAE?
Chevron down icon
Warranty runs through Lutron's authorised dealer network, with terms published at lutron.com/warranty. This is not a direct-to-consumer product, so support goes through the dealer who commissioned the system. Keep the project file and the Lutron Designer database, because whoever services the villa next will need them.

Where does Lutron equipment come from in the UAE?
Chevron down icon
Lutron reaches this market through its regional distributor Taxan Gulf and a small number of authorised Dubai dealers who specify, supply and commission the equipment. Grey-market keypads bought abroad are a poor idea, because they arrive engraved for somebody else's scenes and sit outside local dealer support.

Can we add keypads later to an existing HomeWorks system?
Chevron down icon
Yes, that is normal. Spare capacity on the QS link and a cable route are the two things to check. New keypads are ordered with their own engraving, wired onto the link and added in Lutron Designer. Pulling spare cable to likely locations at first fix saves money later.

What cable do the electricians need to pull?
Chevron down icon
Per keypad column, two 22 AWG shielded twisted-pair data conductors plus one 18 AWG power pair, all on the QS link, with total link length up to 610 m. The exact spec comes from the dealer's design, and it has to go in at first fix with the lighting circuits.

Who should not buy this?
Chevron down icon
Anyone wanting a quick weekend upgrade, anyone renting, and anyone with a finished villa who will not accept cable work. If your lighting is standard downlights on a few circuits, a Lutron RA2 Select dimmer or an Aqara keypad gives most of the day-to-day benefit for far less money.
